Navigating the path from proven solution to market success.

Unlocking commercial potential

From clearly defining the need, to achieving scalable adoption – businesses partner with ConvergX® Xpand to find answers to problems in previously unidentified solutions. We also partner with the solution provider themselves – to support them through late stage commercialization and into deals with customers that need their services and technology.

What is Commercialization?

Commercialization is the process of taking proven innovations and making them market-ready products or services that deliver measurable value. It bridges research and adoption – helping technologies and solutions move from prototype to real-world deployment, with focus on known gaps such as procurement pathways, compliance and supplier qualification, and financing.

What are Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs)?

The Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) framework is a standardized tool for assessing the maturity of innovations during development.

Starting at TRL 1, where concepts are explored and moved through research, validation, and prototyping, to system integration and eventually TRL 9, where technologies and innovations are tested and deployed in operational environments.

ConvergX Xpand works with mature technologies, TRL 7+, that have completed R&D, are often commercialized in one industry, and are ready to expand to new applications. We support solution providers as they advance their technologies and become operationally ready in a new industry – to solve a cross-sector problem in 12-18 months.

What is the scale for commercialization?

In the context of NASA’s TRL scale, the question is around technical maturity – “does it work?”. With ConvergX Xpand, the emphasis is on commercialization potential – “will it adopt and scale?”. ConvergX is focused on commercial viability, readiness and change management.

We do this by leveraging the Commercial Readiness Level (CRL) framework which evaluates a solution’s market readiness and business maturity. CRL focuses on business risk factors such as supply chain, pricing, market demand, financing and the ability to deliver at scale.
The CRL scale starts at CRL 1 with initial market analysis and customer pain points. From there it progresses through developing a value proposition, validation, feedback, stakeholder, regulatory, and partner validation; and finally financial viability and customer commitment strengthen. At CRL 9 the solution is considered fully operational and widely available with consistent revenue generation.

It is recognized that some industries use frameworks such as Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL), Operations, System or Integration Readiness Level and so on.
