Dr. Antonio P. Anselmo is a scientist and financier whose career spans over three decades and traverses the realms of engineering, banking and entrepreneurship. His career is marked by significant contributions in each field, making him a distinguished figure known for his innovative approaches and leadership in both technical and financial domains.

Early Life and Education
After growing up in Washington, D.C. and Edmonton, Alberta, Antonio Anselmo’s academic pursuits began at Cornell University in Ithaca New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical Engineering in 1981, followed by a Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Electrical Engineering in 1982. His master’s research focused on microwave solid-state amplifiers, a field at the intersection of electrical engineering and applied physics.

Anselmo’s academic journey culminated with a Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from Cornell in 1987. His doctoral research centered on particle accelerator technology and plasma physics, areas that have broad implications in both scientific research and practical applications, including medical treatments and defense technologies. His thesis work, supported by the U.S. Department of Energy, earned him invitations to present at prestigious conferences and established his reputation in the field.

Scientific Career at Varian Associates
After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Anselmo joined Varian Associates in Palo Alto, California, where he worked as a scientist at the Varian Research Center from 1987 to 1991. At Varian, he led several high-impact projects, focusing on surface physics, thin-film coatings for magnetic circuits, and advanced instruments for chemical analysis. His work in improving ship defense radar systems and addressing manufacturing challenges in cancer therapy equipment demonstrated his ability to apply theoretical knowledge to solve real-world problems. Dr. Anselmo was recognized for his innovative approaches to research and his ability to manage interdisciplinary teams.

Transition to Finance and J.P. Morgan Chase
In the early 1990s, Dr. Anselmo made a significant career shift, moving into the financial sector after receiving an MBA from Dartmouth College’s Tuck School. He joined J.P. Morgan Chase’s Investment Bank in 1993, where his scientific background and analytical skills found new applications in financial engineering and risk management. Over the next 12 years, he played a pivotal role in the bank’s development of structured debt products, derivatives, and asset/liability management strategies.

As Vice President of Trading and Financial Engineering, Dr. Anselmo was instrumental in creating and pricing complex financial instruments tailored for risk management. His expertise in financial modeling and his innovative approaches to solving financial challenges were highly valued, earning him the Top Investment Banking Trainee in 1993 and the prestigious Global Top Tier Award in 2000.

Dr. Anselmo also led the bank’s early forays into e-commerce, serving as Vice President of Electronic Investment Banking and Strategy from 2000 to 2005. In this role, he architected and managed a multi-tier global e-commerce sales and service system, re-engineered post-merger infrastructures, and delivered cutting-edge solutions that positioned J.P. Morgan Chase as a leader in digital financial services. His contributions during this period were recognized with the President’s Award for Disaster Recovery Efforts following the 9/11 attacks, highlighting his leadership in crisis management.

Entrepreneurial Ventures and Altametric, LLC
In 2005, Dr. Anselmo founded Altametric, LLC, a consultancy focused on energy project development, financial management, and strategic consulting for the utility and energy sectors. His work with Altametric included optimizing reactor fueling processes, developing models for energy storage markets, and advising on the implementation of emerging technologies such as LED lighting and wind farm power generation. His clients included industry leaders like Urenco, ConverDyn, and Arizona Power, and his expertise in both technical and financial domains made him a sought-after consultant.

ChemBioPower and Focus on Sustainable Energy
In 2014, Dr. Anselmo expanded his entrepreneurial endeavors by founding ChemBioPower, Ltd., where he serves as President. The company focuses on producing, storing, and selling clean, renewable chemicals and such formic acid, while perfecting the nanotechnology catalyst that are used in the process. ChemBioPower products have applications ranging from animal feed acidification, honeybee brood protection, hydrogen carriers and polymer applications. The ChemBioPower mission is closely aligned with global efforts to enhance energy security and reduce carbon emissions.

Under Dr. Anselmo’s leadership, ChemBioPower has developed intellectual property covering the production of household and industrial chemical products based on formic acid. His vision for the company includes leveraging these technologies to provide sustainable household, agricultural and industrial chemical solutions that are both scalable and economically viable.

Academic and Professional Recognition
Throughout his career, Dr. Anselmo has maintained strong ties to the academic community. He was named an Edward Tuck Scholar and received the Adams Entrepreneurship Award for the best new business plan while earning his M.B.A. at Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School in 1993. His academic achievements also include a Teagle Fellowship for research and teaching at Cornell University, where he made significant contributions to the field of plasma physics.

Dr. Anselmo has published over thirty articles in scientific and financial journals and has been a keynote speaker at numerous conferences. His dual expertise in physics and finance, combined with his leadership in both corporate and entrepreneurial settings, has earned him widespread recognition and respect in his fields of endeavor.
