Lunch & Keynote Speaker LtCol Jacob Clayton – , USMC Reserve, examines the critical role of climate change as a threat multiplier in national security. The U.S. National Intelligence Estimate identifies ecological degradation as a growing driver of resource scarcity, human displacement, and infrastructure vulnerability, increasing the risk of conflict. Clayton highlights the “center of gravity” in this context: global environmental harmony. When environmental stability is disrupted, it triggers cascading security threats. Addressing this requires resilience in resource management, infrastructure adaptation, and international cooperation. Clayton argues that biodiversity-focused Eco-Assets offer a strategic solution, fostering both environmental protection and national security by mitigating these interconnected threats. |
